The answer here is a quick hip-fire, it is the Ford Maverick. The Ford Maverick starts at around $22,000 and its highest trim gets up to $28,000, while the Lightning starts significantly higher (as a full-sized pickup) at around $41,000 and its higher trim gets up to $92,000. The other problem with the Ford Lightning is that the standard battery only has a range of 230 miles, so most would have to lean towards purchasing the larger battery with an Extended Range of 320 miles. The Extended Range battery comes standard on only the highest trim, Platinum at around $92,000. Adding it as an option adds about $22,000 to your ticket on the XLT trim to a total of around $81,000, or about $12,000 as an option on the Lariat trim coming out to about $86,000. Now many of you electric vehicle aficionados would say that you save more money in the long run with the Ford Lightning but unfortunately that may only be true if you purchase the base model. There is a large disparity in prices because there is a disparity in size of the two vehicles, and the Maverick is only a hybrid. Full electric batteries cost significantly more than hybrid batteries. Which vehicle you choose largely depends on your use of the vehicle, want a hauler, and loads of space in your bed? Well then you must pay the extra bucks for the Lightning. If all you need is a compact truck with a bed and more space than you can find in an SUV, the Maverick is one of the most reasonably priced vehicles on the market for that niche.
