Ecoboost Power
There's never been anything like Ford's new EcoBoost engines. If you've never heard of them, all you need to know is that they combine maximum power with modern fuel economy. When you choose the 2016 Ford F-150, you get two EcoBoost engine options. The first is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that delivers 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. Use it to tow up to 8,500 pounds. Even with its serious engine output, you still achieve impressive fuel economy - up to 19 city/26 highway mpg. If you want max power, test-drive the turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine. Its 365 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque mean you can tow up to 12,200 pounds - more than any other vehicle in this class. Not only that, but you'll get great mileage. This engine achieves up to 17/24 mpg.
The used 2012 Ford F-150 truck couldn't be as concerned with fuel economy. That's because the technology didn't yet exist to pair serious towing power with money-saving fuel-efficiency. For example, the base V8 engine earned 17/23 mpg. You should note, however, that it wasn't nearly as powerful as the modern turbocharged options. It generated only 302 horses and 278 pound-feet of torque.
Tech Innovations
As you may have guessed, the F-150's infotainment options have come a long way since 2012. If you're used to tech-savvy driving, you'll want to check out the 2016 Ford F-150. To start, the all-new Sync 3 central infotainment system is more responsive than ever. It's easy to use, whether you prefer voice command or the touchscreen interface. You can use the household-style electrical outlet to charge power tools on the go. With the used 2012 Ford F-150 truck, infotainment systems weren't as quick to respond. You'll find that the technology of the day simply wasn't up to the task of keeping up with the modern driver.
