Looking at the mid-level and higher end of truck models out of Ford's F-150 series, we see many features that begin to add an unprecedented level of comfort and practicality to a truck driver's experience. Both the Lariat and the King Ranch are well above the base XL model in this lineup. The following features are differences in the two models to give the needed information to make an educated decision based upon your personal needs.
2017 Ford F-150 Lariat vs King Ranch
Power Wherever You Go
The first feature we see is one of practicality and convenience especially for long trips. A 110 V power inverter in the rear and front comes standard in the King Ranch model which is optional in the Lariat (although both are in the SuperCrew and SuperCab editions).
This feature is indispensable when planning to take business trips or even for long days on the job where a laptop or charging a phone is necessary. Never run out of juice while you're on-the-go again!
Inside Space
Both models are spacious as is, but the Lariat has an optional flow-through center console with floor shift. This allows for additional room to store tools and office supplies right at arm's length.
There is also the option of having a fully flat load-floor by tucking the rear seats up. This is standard in the King Ranch and provides vital storage space that can be used for transporting larger items. The latter model also has signature King Ranch leather which you can't find in any other model of F-150 truck as well as mahogany wood accents.
Safety and Convenience
The Lariat has the reverse sensing system optional add-on which will alert the driver with an audible signal when you closely approach an object while in reverse. This option comes standard with the King Ranch model.
Also standard with the King Ranch is the Sync Connect technology. Sync Connect allows the driver to access a comprehensive view of their vehicle from anywhere and view live diagnostics on it from their smartphone. For instance, the driver can view fuel levels, unlock car doors, and even see where the vehicle is parked at a distance.
Exterior Look and Safety
The exteriors of both the Lariat and the King Ranch are fairly similar save for a few added features to the King Ranch and some aesthetic differences. The King Ranch comes standard with LED mirror-mounted spotlights for stellar visibility in low-light situations and quad-beam LED head and taillamps. Also, both trucks have a remote tail-gate release that allows for distance lowering of the tail-gate which is optional in the Lariat.
A useful option for the Lariat that comes with the King Ranch package is a trailer brake controller. This option helps to ensure that the truck's brake system and the trailer's brake system are both working in unison. A feature that will ensure safe towing and worry-free travelling. The King Ranch comes with a trademark caribou step bar that adds to the outdoorsy look and provides easy step-up access to the cabin.
