What Does the EcoSport Look Like?
The 2018 EcoSport is built on a Ford Fiesta platform, reinvented as a compact sport utility vehicle. The EcoSport has a decidedly sporty look, boxy yet streamlined, with 10 bold colors (including a very bright blue). The EcoSport has some interesting quirks, like many of its competitors, such as a side-opening rear door and hexagonal grille up front.
Inside, you'll find a surprisingly spacious cabin. The 2018 EcoSport seats five people and they'll be relieved to find that not only do they not have to squeeze in, but they'll have room to stretch in every direction but up. Worried about stowing the stuff that comes with five people, you'll find cubbies for everything from your cell phone to a chilled six-pack in the glove compartment.
How Will the EcoSport Perform?
Though it comes standard with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive is available. But if you're looking for a switch for AWD, you won't find one. Instead, the EcoSport comes equipped with technology that automatically monitors road conditions and activates the all-wheel drive when needed. Most of the time, you'll cruise around in front-wheel drive, benefiting from better fuel economy and tighter turning, but you'll get the the traction of an all-wheel drive vehicle when you really need it. The EcoSport will get an impressive 23 city and 29 highway miles per gallon.
What Features Will the EcoSport Have?
In a word: Lots. All 2018 EcoSports will come with Bluetooth connectivity, automatic start-stop technology, and two fast-charging USB ports. The 4-inch infotainment touchscreen "floats," or rises, above the dash for quick reference while driving. In other words, the screen is where your eyes should always be. Additional options include features like sunroof, rear parking sensors, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Ford Sync 3 infotainment system with up to 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone connectivity, navigation, blind-spot warning, a 110-volt power outlet, heated steering wheel, and windshield de-icer. With all this tech, you're bound to find two or three features you're not sure how you lived without before.
