2019 Ford Edge ST
What happens when you add the letters S and T to the 2019 Ford Edge? They make a world of difference. The 2019 Ford Edge is a midsize SUV, but the top-tier ST model turns the Edge into a sport-tuned, performance-oriented racing SUV. The Edge joins the Fiesta and Focus in getting the ST badge this year to the delight of SUV fans.
Watch How It Moves
The Edge ST replaces the Edge Sport. Ford takes its ST lineup seriously, so when we heard that the Edge would be getting its own ST trim, we knew we were in for a treat. Press down on the gas and you'll feel the difference. While all the other Edge trims offer a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the Edge ST boasts a 335-horsepower 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. The Edge ST can go zero to 60 in under 6 seconds, no small undertaking for a midsize SUV. In fact, that beats out the Focus ST and Fiesta ST, which is outright astounding given their much lower curb weights. I mean, the Edge ST weighs up to 4,000 pounds but, boy, can it still move.
Not only is the Edge ST fast, with stellar acceleration, it handles like a race car as well. The Edge ST comes with standard all-wheel drive. If you like really leaning into turns, we recommend the 21-inch Pirelli P Zero summer tires (no extra cost) and ST Performance Brake Package. The tires have a nice grip and those brakes can stop you in just 108 feet from 60 mph, while the Fiesta ST and Focus ST need 120 feet to do the same. So lean into turns and drive confidently. The Edge ST will show you a good time and get you home alright.
Top-Tier Goodies
The standard features on a Ford Edge ST are many and wonderful. We've mentioned the engine that's an Edge ST exclusive. There's also the 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, power-adjustable front seats, and more. There are optional features that you can't get on any other Edge besides the ST trim level, such as what's in the 401A Package that offers 110-volt outlet, hands-free power liftgate, and remote start. Other optional features include voice-activated navigation system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, panoramic roof, and 180-degree-view camera.
With the Fiesta and Focus going overseas, it makes sense for Ford to concentrate on the incredibly popular SUV class. Now that we have the Edge ST, we'll probably see this sporty SUV option for many years as people marry the utility and versatility of sport utility vehicles with the unbridled fun of a sport-tuned suspension and superb handling. So go ahead: go test drive a Ford Edge ST soon.
