2019 Ford F-250
Just about every review of a Ford Super Duty truck has the obligatory numbers for towing and payload capacity, horsepower and torque, GVWR and GCWR. Why? Probably because Ford has the class-leaders, some of the best trucks on the market. I mean, 18,500 towing capacity, 4,720 pounds of payload, 450 horsepower, and 935 pound-feet of torque certainly bears mentioning. But, in this review, we hope to push past those numbers to show what else you get from a Super Duty truck. After all, Ford put a lot of time and effort into not only how much the F-250 can pull and haul, but also how this Super Duty looks, feels, and functions.
Get In the Cab!
Once you climb into the driver's seat (greatly helped by the power-retractable steps on the Titanium trim), you might forget you're in a work truck. Is that because of soft plush leather seating for comfort, the three lumbar adjustability for support on long drives, the quiet cabin disturbed only by the thrum of the powerful engine, or the dual-zone air conditioning keeping you just the right temperature? But then you do remember you're in a truck because you're hauling a tremendous load and looking down on all the other cars.
You'll also notice there's an awful lot of space. You have a tall roofline to thank for all the head room. And there's leg room in spades, both in front and back. So move your seat back all you want; they can take it back there. You'll never poke your neighbor with your elbows or accidentally spill their drink. Or should we say drinks, because there are two cup holders for each of the F-250's five seats.
Top-Notch Driving and Acceleration
Okay, you're not driving a sports car. You won't win the Indy 500. But you'll probably be surprised at how speedy the 2019 Ford F-250 can be. When they tested the 2017 model a couple years ago, the F-250 went zero to 60 in just 6.9 seconds. The most curious thing is that the acceleration seems to be there no matter how much you're hauling or towing. In fact, the truck feels a little more even-keeled when hauling a load. Thanks to the F-250's adaptive steering, steering feels surprisingly light and sharp cornering is far from a teeth-clenching, white-knuckling experience.
Say Goodbye to the Dark Ages
It used to be that a truck meant having little more than AM/FM radio for tech options. Luckily, times have changed. The Ford F-250 benefits from the same infotainment system as Ford SUVs and cars, namely the SYNC 3 system. SYNC 3 is easy-to-use and intuitive. Users like the large icons, commonsensical menus, and smartphone integration thrown in. The whole system is voice-activated and works with navigation, placing calls, and more.
There's a lot to love about the Ford F-250. The numbers are the most important thing, but we hope we've shown that there's more to F-250s than power.
