2019 Ford Fiesta
Ford is wrapping up production of the Ford Fiesta in the United States. If you want one of these popular models without having to travel overseas, 2019 is your last chance to buy. Why is the Fiesta going away domestically? Ford is doubling down on their production of trucks and SUVs, which have proven more popular in the US. But there's nothing wrong with the Fiesta, a model that has seen explosive sales in foreign markets. Get your hands on one before it's gone. To sweeten the deal, Ford is unleashing the new sporty ST package, for a limited time offer. In this preview guide, we'll tell you what's new for 2019 and why you don't want to miss out.
What's New for 2019?
Something lost, something gained. First of all, and perhaps in anticipation for production halt, Ford has discontinued the hatchback base trim of the Ford Fiesta along with the top-tier Titanium trim. That leaves us with the sedan S trim ($14,260), the SE sedan ($15,490) and SE hatchback ($15,790), and the ST line ($16,625 and $21,340).
The other big news is about the ST trim level specifically. Ford has given the ST hatchback a whole new look with different grille, black roof, rear spoiler, dual exhaust tips, body kit, black 16-inch wheels, and ST-Line badging on the front fenders. On the interior, the ST-Line package adds red stitching for the cloth seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel, embroidered ST logos on the seats, different floor mats, and metallic-look pedals. This sporty look, which debuts and ends in a single model year is sure to turn heads, and remain relatively rare. Get this affordable collector's item before the ST-Line package is gone.
Sporty All Around
Speaking of sporty, just about any trim level has a touch of sportiness, but especially the ST trim. We like the sporty-tuned chassis that gives you great handling and feel. The Fiesta brakes well, with a lot of grip on the road. Steering feels responsive, making cornering fun instead of hair-raising experience. (Or hair-raising in a good way.) Everything sticks, in the best way, leaving you feeling connected to the road. Thanks to a well-tuned suspension, the Fiesta is plenty fun to drive.
The ST trim benefits from this well-tuned, sporty suspension and pairs that with an athletic engine. We're talking about the 1.6-liter inline-four, making 197 horsepower and paired exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission. That's quite a bit of power for a car this size. Cornering and acceleration are a dream in the 2019 Ford Fiesta ST.
Step Inside and See
For its size, the Ford Fiesta has a tall roof and wide doors. So get in and get comfortable. There's seating for five and plenty of head room and leg room in front, though a little less in back. We liked the visibility, thanks to the tall windows and narrow roof pillars. You'll be happy with the tech, including Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system on a sharp-graphic 6.5-inch touch screen display. Everything is clearly labeled, easy to control, and straightforward.
There's plenty to love about the 2019 Ford Fiesta. Get yours before this car is gone forever.
