2019 Ford Fiesta vs Honda Fit
At first glance, the 2019 Ford Fiesta and Honda Fit look a lot alike. They have almost exactly the same exterior dimensions and weigh in at 10 pounds of each other. (The base Fiesta is 2,578 pounds while the Fit weighs 2,568 pounds.) The Fiesta has taller headlights and a larger grille, but the silhouette of these two subcompact cars is almost identical. But appearances can be deceiving. In this comparison guide, we put the Fiesta and Fit next to each other and find out what’s really going on under that paint and sheet metal.
Performance: 2019 Ford Fiesta
The 2019 Ford Fiesta is worth a mighty wheee or yeehaw, depending on your exclamatory preferences. That’s because Ford has made their smallest sedan a veritable thrill ride. That’s thanks to its Fiesta ST trim level, which includes the trim-exclusive 197-horsepower turbocharged EcoBoost engine with six-speed manual transmission. That’s a lot of power for a car this size. You can expect spirited acceleration, to the tune of zero to 60 in six and a half seconds.
The Honda Fit has only a single engine option: the 130-horsepower inline-4. While that’s fine for a base engine and is on par with the Fiesta’s other engine, the Fit cannot compete with the likes of the 2019 Ford Fiesta ST with its peppy engine.
Cargo Room: 2019 Honda Fit
There’s no competing with the Honda Fit when it comes to storage space. The 2019 Ford Fiesta does pretty well, boasting 12.8-cubic-foot trunk or a 14.9-cubic-foot cargo area behind the back seat of the hatchback version, which extends to 25.4 cubes once you fold the back seat down. But the Honda Fit is a class leader with 16.6 cubic feet behind the back seat and a whopping 52.7 cubes behind the back seat. There’s also Honda’s Magic Seat for extra versatility.
Price: 2019 Ford Fiesta
If you’re looking to save a buck of two, the 2019 Ford Fiesta is by far the more affordable of these two subcompact sedans. The Fiesta starts at $14,260 while the 2019 Honda Fit is just a Hamilton shy of $17,000. For your money, the Ford Fiesta comes with these standard features: manual windows, keyless entry, rearview camera, SYNC infotainment system with 4.2-inch display, voice activation, USB port, and Bluetooth. Obviously, that’s not a ton, so we suggest going up a trim level to also grab features like power windows, cruise control, and Ford MyKey.
The Honda Fit comes standard with cloth upholstery, rearview camera, 5-inch infotainment display, four speakers, Bluetooth, USB port, and Honda’s rear Magic Seat, offering multiple configurations and a 60/40 split. Of course, these features don’t explain the wide difference in price.
Unless you’re hankering for that cargo space and it’s an absolute deal breaker, there’s good reason to lean toward the 2019 Ford Fiesta. Test drive it today.
