2019 Ford Fusion
Like many other Ford sedans, the Ford Fusion is probably on its way out. The Fusion, Fiesta and other Ford four-doors will still be available in other markets, but Ford will primarily focus on SUVs and trucks in the United States. Still, the Fusion is going out with a bang, and the 2019 model will soon be the most advanced Fusion anywhere in the U.S. After that, the Fusion will get rare. So if this car appeals to you, and there's a lot that's appealing, it's time to claim yours. In this preview guide, we'll show you what's new and what's good about the 2019 Ford Fusion, before this sedan is gone forever.
What's New for 2019?
The Fusion won't be around for much longer, but it kind of feels like no one let Ford know. Because they gave the Fusion an exterior refresh, added a ton of new features, and juggled the trim and feature availability. In essence, Ford made the 2019 Fusion a lot better than its predecessors. There's a small to big price increase, depending on trim level. But the price is all worth the money for what you get.
First of all, front and rear fascia have been updated, including a new grille, fog lamps, LED tail lights, and trunk trim. We especially like the new grille. The vertical metallic bars have been replaced with a black cascading weave. The LED lights give the Fusion a cool futuristic vibe. And the fog lights pop, even in daylight.
Second, and most importantly, there's a new Co-Pilot safety package that includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information with cross-traffic alert, lane keeping system, rear backup camera, and auto high-beam lighting. This represents a tremendous improvement in terms of safety. It's rare to see a jump in available safety features as big as this one. The amped-up safety also explains the Fusion's price increase. All this crazy tech should appeal to a vast swath of today's consumers who want the latest technological options.
The trim level that changed the most is the top-tier Fusion Titanium. Just since 2018, Ford has added tons of standard features to this trim, like ? glass roof, adaptive cruise control, satellite navigation, and 19-inch wheels. Together with the Co-Pilot safety package, the 2019 Fusion Titanium feels like a luxury car but with a down-to-earth price tag.
A Quality Driving Experience
If we could distill what makes the 2019 Ford Fusion such a great car is that sitting behind its wheel feels like the perfect sedan ride. The Fusion is composed and quiet while still feeling nimble. This Ford brakes well, accelerates confidently, boasts sharp steering, and feels perfectly at home expertly navigating the urban jungle. The interior is attractive, with high-quality materials and tasteful design. With all the new safety features, updated exterior, and the downright beautiful Titanium trim, the Ford Fusion looks better than ever. We'll be sad to see it go when Ford knuckles down to focus on bigger vehicles.
