2020 Ford F-150 Platinum vs Limited
Choosing between the 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum and Limited trim models is complicated by the fact that both trucks are so powerful and luxurious. Luckily, at LaFayette Ford, we’re experts on the F-150. Check out our comparison guide to learn which of these full-size trucks is best suited to your particular workday.
Interior Refinement
First, the question of passenger space. The 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum and Limited offer only one cabin option, the very roomy SuperCrew. Whether you’re transporting your work crew or your entire family, there’s enough leg and hip room to go around. And both models feature a 5-foot-6-inch truck bed, with generous space for whatever needs hauling.
But these trucks are more than just roomy, they’re absolutely luxurious. For instance, the Platinum and the Limited come standard with soft leather upholstery. Ambient interior lighting gives the cabin a soft glow during nighttime cruises. The top-trim Limited is a little extra luxurious, with additional standard features, like the panoramic moonroof.
High-Tech Trucking
Here, the 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum and Limited also have a lot in common. Both of these high-end trucks optimize your convenience levels with handy features like push-button start and dual-zone automatic climate control. And both trucks treat you to the Sync 3 infotainment system, with its 8-inch color touch screen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay technology.
As the F-150’s top-of-the-line trim model, the Limited comes standard with a few extras, such as a 360-degree parking camera. This technology is especially useful when you’re navigating tight spaces, including parallel parking spots.
Modern Safety
Both the 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum and the Limited come standard with the Co-Pilot360 suite of safety aids. What’s that, you ask? This bundle of high-tech driver aids—like forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist—help you keep from getting distracted from potential on-road dangers.
Power & Performance
With its sturdy 5.0-liter V8 engine, the 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum is best suited to drivers who plan on hauling a lot of gear in the truck bed. Properly equipped, this pickup can haul up to 2,890 pounds.
Although the V8-powered Platinum can’t tow as much as the Limited, it’s still very capable. Depending on equipment and configuration, Platinum trucks can tow up to 11,600 pounds.
If you choose, you can switch out the Platinum’s standard engine for either the 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6 (to balance towing capabilities with better fuel efficiency) or the 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 (to take towing capabilities to the next level).
The F-150 Limited comes standard with the high-output version of the line’s 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine, making it an excellent choice for drivers with heavy trailers to tow. This engine generates 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, putting it at the top of the F-150 engine hierarchy. Limited models can tow max loads of 13,200 pounds.
Although the Limited doesn’t quite haul as much weight as the Platinum, it will still impress you with its capabilities. This top-of-the-line F-150 can haul up to 2,870 pounds.
