2020 Ford F-250 Platinum vs Limited
Not many vehicle models require this level of granularity, but this Super Duty truck is so popular, and the features and differences between trim levels are so varied, the 2020 Ford F-250 definitely qualifies. This time we’re going right to the top, showing off the F-250 at its finest with the two highest trim levels. We’ll also quickly show you what’s new for 2020 before diving into whether you should get the Platinum or the Limited.
Lots of new things are rolling out for the Ford F-250 for the 2020 model year. This generation of F-250s that started in 2017 just keeps getting better and better. First of all and most importantly, there’s a new gas engine: the 7.3-liter V8 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Between the two limited trims we’re looking at today, it’s only available on the Platinum, but more on that later. The diesel engine, which is the Limited’s only engine option, just upgraded to a paired 10-speed automatic as well. There’s new exterior styling in front and back. Finally, there’s an all-new Tremor package for off-roading fun.
If you want a diesel engine, you have that option on either the Platinum or Limited trims. But if you want a gas engine, you’re going to want the Platinum. Because the Limited trim is exclusively diesel. The two gas engines available on the Platinum trim are the 6.2-liter V8 good for 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Or, better yet, the all-new 430-horsepower 7.3-liter V8 engine that doles out 475 pound-feet of torque. The 6.2L is a great engine, but the 7.3L is an absolute beast.
The diesel engine available on either the Platinum or the only option on the Limited is a turbocharged V8 engine delivering 475 horsepower and a toe-curling, pulse-pounding 1,050 pound-feet or torque. So pull stumps out of your yard, haul a forest’s worth to the dump, and still have time for lunch. Every one of this trio of engines comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
A Lot of Features or a Heck of a Lot?
The other big difference between the Platinum and Limited trims is the feature count. Of course, both come with too many to list here, but there’s a few more on the Limited than on the Platinum, thus explaining the higher price point. Just hitting the highlights, the Platinum comes standard with luxury features like power-retractable side steps, power tailgate, multicontour front seats, and adaptive cruise control. The Limited comes with every feature the lower trims offer, but also adds things like a panoramic sunroof and a two-tone leather interior. At the end of the day, you must choose. With two great options such as these, you can’t go wrong. Come on down to LaFayette Ford and see them for yourself.
