2020 Lincoln Continental
The Lincoln Continental is a big deal. At 16.8 feet long, it’s got that iconic look, a buttery-smooth drive, and passenger and cargo space in spades. In this preview guide, we show you what’s new for 2020 and what makes the Continental worth a closer look.
What’s New for 2020?
The only big change is how the Lincoln Continental streamlined its trim levels. In 2019, there were four trim levels, but now there are three. The base and Continental Select have been folded into each other while the Reserve and Black Label trims remain unchanged. Other than that, there are three new exterior colors to choose from: Pristine White Metallic Tri-Coat, Red Carpet Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Silver Radiance Clearcoat.
Superior Acceleration
The base 2020 Lincoln Continental comes with a 3.7-liter V6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower. That’s some pretty decent power in a sedan. Still, we recommend either of the two twin-turbocharged V6 engines for superior acceleration. Remember, this is a big car that needs some oomph. Luckily, you have your choice between a 2.7-liter that’s good for 335 horsepower and a 3.0-liter that supplies 400 horsepower.
All that Room
Step inside the Lincoln Continental and you’ll find a spacious cabin with plenty of legroom, no matter how long the legs in question. In fact, all five seats are comfortable, alleviating the need to call shotgun for anything but the view. Materials are high quality, as you’d expect in a luxury car, and the cabin is both sleek and stylish.
On top of that, there’s 16.7 cubic feet of trunk space, which is huge. And loading and unloading has never been easier, since the Continental enjoys a wide opening and a low lift-in height. Don’t strain your back or leave anything behind.
Plenty of Tech
Even the Continental Standard has more technology than you can shake a baton at. There’s the outstanding SYNC3 infotainment system that comes with an 8-inch touch screen, satellite radio, 10-speaker stereo, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Then the standard active safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive headlights, rearview camera, and MyKey driver monitoring system. And you can get really comfy with 10-way power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and remote start.
And we’re just getting started. Upgrade the audio system and add standard heated steering wheel and rear seats with the Continental Reserve. Or go Black Label for 30-way power-adjustable multicontour front seats, 19-speaker Revel stereo, LED headlights, and a household-style power outlet. All that tech will leave you downright pampered.
