2020 Lincoln Corsair vs BMW X3
If you’re shopping for a small luxury crossover, both 2020 Lincoln Corsair and BMW X3 should definitely be on your short list. But before you choose between them, you should give our comparison guide a quick read. We’ll help you figure out which of these upscale cruisers is more your speed.
Sleek, Modern Style: 2020 Lincoln Corsair
With its big grille and rugged good looks, the all-new Corsair has head-turning potential. Inside, the cabin is loaded with high-end materials and stylish, ergonomic seating.
Outside, the 2020 X3 combines classic BMW styling cues with modern features, including the iconic double kidney grille and tasteful LED headlights. Inside, the X3 is also decked out in high-end materials. However, the all-new Corsair has the edge in terms of modern style. While it does incorporate classic BMW style, the X3 interior design feels slightly dated.
Must-Have Technology: 2020 Lincoln Corsair
Cutting-edge technology is an essential part of the luxury experience. With its streamlined Sync 3 infotainment interface, complete smartphone integration, and multiple device-charging options, the Corsair delivers. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technology display smartphone apps on the crisp, responsive touchscreen. Passengers can keep devices going all day, thanks to a wireless charging pad, three USB-A ports, and one USB-C port. We’re also big fans of the Corsair’s advanced voice controls, which add to the infotainment experience with hands-free access. Finally, with its luxurious take on sound, the 14-speaker Revel audio system is a perfect 10.
Like the Corsair setup, the BMW infotainment interface looks classy and modern. The natural-language voice controls are another excellent addition. However, although the X3 includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto isn’t yet available. With the widespread availability of this smartphone integration technology, this is a surprising omission from such a high-caliber vehicle.
Maximum Horsepower: 2020 BMW X3
While most of these models’ engines can pretty much go pound-for-pound with one another, the X3 offers an extra, more powerful engine option. Speed freaks will love the X3 M40i model and its 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, a beast that makes 382 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque.
The X3’s base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (248 horses, 258 pound-feet). When you add all-wheel-drive to the X3, it combines this engine with plug-in hybrid technology, creating a speedier ride (288 horses, 310 pound-feet).
Although the 2020 Lincoln Corsair doesn’t offer a high-power six-cylinder engine option, its two four-cylinders are pretty peppy. The base engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, blends on-road comfort with speed (250 horses, 280 pound-feet). To wring a little extra speed from your Corsair, choose the optional turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine (295 horses, 310 pound-feet).
Save Thousands: 2020 Lincoln Corsair
The all-new Lincoln Corsair offers luxury on wheels – and it does so at a great price. With a starting MSRP of $35,945, choosing the Corsair will literally save you thousands. The BMW M3 is definitely pricier, starting at $41,950.
In the end, while the BMW X3 offers plenty of speed and style, the all-new 2020 Lincoln Corsair has completely won us over.
