2020 Lincoln Nautilus vs Acura RDX
The Lincoln Nautilus is only in its sophomore year, after replacing the Lincoln MKX in 2019. So, what does this new luxury midsize sport utility vehicle have to offer? Plenty. To give you an idea, let’s compare it with another popular luxury SUV: the Acura RDX. We think you’ll be surprised at how well the Lincoln Nautilus compares.
Reliability: 2020 Lincoln Nautilus
First impressions are pretty important. That’s why the reliability score, even on a brand new model is valuable. JD Power and Associates surveys new owners to see what they think of their vehicle, and the Nautilus sits well above average with a 3.5 reliability rating. That indicates that people are pretty satisfied with their purchase and have encountered fewer issues, if any. Meanwhile, the 2020 Acura RDX’s reliability is sitting below average, with a 2.5 score.
If you’re driving a midsize SUV, chances are you have passengers with you that you want to protect. Naturally, you’re going to want to make sure you buy a vehicle that can keep them safe. In this category, the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus and Acura RDX are pretty similar. Both received five out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Standard safety features on the 2020 Nautilus include rearview camera, rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and MyKey system. The Acura RDX has almost exactly the same standard features, which is why this one is a clincher.
Passenger and Cargo Room: 2020 Lincoln Nautilus
Despite both being in the midsize category, the Lincoln Nautilus is larger than the Acura RDX, both in passenger and cargo space. The front headroom is about the same, but the Nautilus affords over an inch more legroom than the RDX in front. And there’s an inch or more headroom for backseat passengers as well.
That size advantage extends into the cargo area as well. Because while the Nautilus has 37.2 cubic feet of storage space behind the back seats, the RDX offers only 29.5 cubes. Fold the back seat down and the difference remains: 68.8 cubic feet in the Nautilus and 58.9 cubes in the RDX.
Towing: 2020 Lincoln Nautilus
Another way the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus outpaces the Acura RDX is in towing capacity. When properly equipped, the Nautilus can tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is above average for this class. Meanwhile, the Acura RDX trails substantially with a maximum towing capacity of only 1,500 pounds--well below average among luxury midsize SUVs.
