2021 Ford Bronco vs Expedition

Although both of these SUVs offer traction-boosting four-wheel drive, the 2021 Ford Bronco takes you much further into uncharted terrain. In addition to its standard four-wheel drive, the Bronco offers a long list of performance options, such as all-terrain tires, off-road-oriented suspension, and an upgraded four-wheel-drive system.

With its optional four-wheel-drive system, the Expedition will also travel into rugged terrain. As a full-size SUV, it’s not quite as nimble as the midsize Bronco, especially in tight spaces. The Expedition’s FX4 Off-Road package will help you travel deeper into the wilderness, with features like skid plates, off-road-tuned suspension, and all-terrain tires.

Inside, the 2021 Ford Bronco offers spacious seating for up to five people. When it comes to comfort, you’ll find a wide range of options. Cloth seating is standard, and upscale leather upholstery is optional. However, some Bronco models are designed to be hosed off after a dusty day on the trail, with marine-grade vinyl upholstery and a drain in the cabin floor.

Although you can’t hose off the Expedition cabin, this Ford SUV also offers a range of interior luxury. A new XL model offers space for five passengers, but all other models have accommodations for seven or eight passengers. The standard lineup is pretty luxurious, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and tri-zone automatic climate control. Three of the Expedition’s five trim levels — the Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum — are very handsomely equipped with leather upholstery, heated seats, and a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system.

The all-new 2021 Ford Bronco comes with a few features that aren’t yet available for other Ford models. For example, every Bronco comes standard with the new Sync 4 system, which processes faster than previous systems. Sync 4 comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen, but a 12-inch touchscreen is also available. Also, every Bronco includes the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can connect to the central system without a USB cord.

For 2021, the Expedition sticks to the Sync 3 infotainment system, which features an 8-inch touchscreen and the wired versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, every Expedition includes the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of safety aids. Its technology — including lane-keeping and blind-spot monitoring systems — is designed to help you stay safe.

The Bronco comes standard with trail-friendly safety aids, such as forward collision mitigation, hill descent assist, and Trail Turn Assist. Other features from the Co-Pilot360 package are optional for the Bronco.
