2022 Ford Ranger vs Chevy Colorado

The 2022 Ford Ranger offers a turbocharged 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 310 lbs-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. An available Terrain Management System for the Tremor increases responsiveness and smooths the transmission. Drive modes include: normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts and Sand. The Ranger can tow up to 7,500 pounds and the payload capacity measures at 1,860 pounds.

In terms of fuel economy, the RWD option gets 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway and the AWD 20/24 mpg.

The 2022 Chevy Colorado offers three engine options. The base 2.5-liter 4-cylinder is paired to a 6-speed automatic with 200 horsepower and 19/25 mpg. The 3.6-liter V-6 is paired to an 8-speed automatic and produces 308 horses with 18/25 mpg. The last option is a 2.8-liter diesel 4-cylinder that makes 181 hp and 20/30 mpg. Max towing is estimated at 7,700 pounds.

Two configurations are offered for the Ranger: the SuperCab with 4 seats and 2 doors or the SuperCrew with 5 seats and 4 doors. Materials used inside aren’t top of the line but there is still a luxurious feel throughout. User-friendly controls can be found along the inside to add to your convenience, too.

Inside, the Colorado is a bit tight if you opt for the crew cab and the materials throughout look slightly on the cheaper side. There is a deep center console bin and storage compartment under the rear bench of the crew cab, too. While there’s not a ton of cargo space inside, the beds of the Colorado are a nice storage option.
