F-150 Lightning vs Cyber Truck - Ford vs Tesla

Immediately this competition gets interesting because the Cybertruck is not yet out for production. The Cybertruck was announced in 2019 and initially was supposed to hit the road in 2021, each year that date has been postponed until now the Cybertruck is expected in 2023. Reservations are still open, but only in North America, with no expected delivery date just yet. While the Cybertruck may not yet be here, the Ford Lightning can be seen out and about. Although the Ford Lightning is out on the roads, wait times upon ordering can last 3-7 months. Ford is doing their best to remedy this and is jumping up production on the Lightning. While the Cybertruck has been touted as wonderful, it just is not available yet, and we are worried it will be postponed for a few more years. Although you might have to wait a half year for the Lightning, it is in production, and you can have it in your home in reasonable time.

The Cybertruck has yet to actually hit the road, and has not been available to test, the numbers we go over for the Cybertruck are all promises made by Tesla, and not any actual data just yet. The Cybertruck has three motor options, single, dual or triple motors. Their towing rating is 7,000, 10,000 and 14,000 pounds respectively. Pretty impressive for an electric truck if that turns out to be true. The range for the Cybertruck starts at 250 miles with the single motor option, then goes up to 300 miles and even 500 miles with the addition of a motor. The Ford Lighting comes standard with dual motors and has the option to upgrade to a larger battery with an extended range. The standard battery starts with a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and the extended range battery has a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, and an increased range of 320 miles while the standard only has 230 miles of range. While the Cybertruck might sound better currently, these numbers are promises and not yet an actuality whereas the Lightning has delivered on its numbers.

The Ford Lightning comes packed with all the features that Ford trucks offer, features that we have come to know and love. The best feature is beyond revolutionary, the Ford Lightning can use its battery charge to power your home in the event of a power outage. On top of that the Ford Lightning has a trunk where the engine on a gas car would be. The interior feels upscale and is quite nicely designed. The Cybertruck on the other hand, has not had any features released just yet and the interior pictures we have seen are the archetype of spartan décor. Not to mention the exterior features, which are closer to a spaceship than a pick-up truck. While we think the idea of the Cybertruck is interesting it just does not seem viable.
