The Ford Fusion is a family sedan that works hard to offer something for everyone. Its base engine is relatively weak, but can be upgraded to the turbocharged option for those who want a fun drive. Its fuel economy isn't stellar but there are two hybrid engines to choose from for the economically- or ecologically-minded. Few tech options come standard, but plenty of boxes can be checked to deck your car with as much (or as little) tech as you want. Though sedans are almost always front-wheel drive, the Fusion has an all-wheel drive option. In point of fact, with six engine options and eleven trims, the Ford Fusion has something for just about everyone.
With the exception of a new paint color (Metallic Blue), there's nothing new this year. The 2018 Ford Fusion remains unchanged from the 2017 model, with a comfortable, upscale cabin that seats five. The Fusion boasts one of the largest trunks in its class, good for those who like cargo space but don't like the look of a hatchback or SUV.
The Ford Fusion continues to perform well in safety ratings, earning five stars and a Top Safety Pick + in 2018 tests. All Fusions come with a rearview camera and Ford's MyKey safety feature. Additional safety options are available at upper trims or with the safety package.
Rather than go through all of the many Fusion trims, we'll hit the highlights. The base Fusion S starts at $23,000 and offers manual climate control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, audio system with USB and auxiliary inputs, rearview camera, and Ford's Sync wireless system with voice control.
If that's not enough, we recommend the Fusion SE for just $3,000 more. It's a mid-level trim with plenty of good standard features like 10-way-power driver's seat, rear air vents, 6-speaker audio system, and 17-inch wheels. If you want to go all out, there's the higher-end $37,600 Titanium model that comes standard with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, upgraded audio systems, upgraded Sync 3 system, and perks like 18-inch wheels, dual-zone auto climate control, and leather seating.
