After American buyers made a decisive shift toward crossovers, Ford officially retired this compact car. However, the used Focus still makes an excellent used option. That’s especially true of cars from this generation, which are efficient, sufficiently powerful, and stocked with modern features.
On the used lot, you’ll find third-generation Ford Focus models with two body styles: sedan and hatchback. There are three trim models, the base S, middle-of-the-road SE, and plush Titanium. Basic amenities include full power accessories, air conditioning, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Higher trim models offer greater luxury, with leather upholstery, a rearview camera, and keyless ignition and entry.
Most third-generation, used Ford Focus models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (160 horsepower, 146 pound-feet of torque). An optional turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine (123 hp, 125 lb-ft) was also available. With the latter, the Focus earns its best EPA ratings, up to 34 mpg combined.
Compared to previous generations, this batch of used Ford Focus models features improved cabin materials and more of a modern drive. These used cars are a great choice for anyone who wants to balance fuel economy with power.
