With the 2025 Ford Explorers rolling out onto dealership lots, you may be interested in upgrading your SUV. Let's take a closer look at what’s new in this year’s model and what remains the same from 2024.
Yes, Ford is coming out with a 2025 Explorer, they should be rolling out onto dealership lots soon.
For 2025, Ford has made sweeping changes to the Explorer lineup by cutting the trims in half. For 2025 you can look for the Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. Some changes to the Explorer include minor cosmetic upgrades as well as changes to the interior tech which we will touch on soon.
The base Explorer starts at an MSRP of $39,755. The 2025 Ford Explorer has prices up across the board, but this is due to the trim levels being cut in half, meaning that better features are being added to the remaining trim levels. The remaining levels are the Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum.
The Active is the base trim in 2025, and starts at $39,755. This trim should come with a 13.2-inch touchscreen, which is larger than what was offered on last year’s model across all trims; a 12.3-inch digital cluster is also expected as standard on this trim. Heated seats as well as a remote start system for the vehicle is featured on this trim, even though this is the base trim, it’s already packed with more features than some other higher end trim levels from other manufacturers.
The Platinum trim level will be the highest trim available. It is unknown if Ford plans to release more later in the year or if this is the set lineup for the year. Regardless of unknowns, what is known is that this trim will come loaded with features.
Starting at $51,655, the Platinum trim should feature a twin panel moonroof, making it so that you have an ample amount of light entering the cab of the vehicle. This trim will also feature a wireless charging pad which makes it easier to make sure your phone stays fully charged without the need for extra wires cluttering your console.
If you enjoy music, this trim is unlike any other, coming with a 14 speaker B&O system that comes with a subwoofer, making it so that you have a premium listening experience no matter where you’re going.
For 2025, the Ford Explorer will come with the same engine from last year. This engine is a 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine that is capable of producing 300 horsepower, and 310 lb-ft of torque.
The higher-end trims will come with a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine capable of 400 horsepower, and 415 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines when paired with the towing package can haul up to 5,000 pounds. Making this vehicle capable of doing light jobs when needed.
